Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February of 2020. Her largest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence, her mother, was an excellent household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. The family relied sometimes on the free delivery of food from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. Later, she discovered she had dyslexia. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After flunking several courses during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
